Thread Lifts

1.In a nutshell what is a Thread Lift?

A thread lift is a minimally invasive, safe, non-surgical alternative to a surgical face lift.

The thread lift is designed to combat sagging skin, lines and wrinkles by `pulling back’ the skin with dissolvable sutures.

Areas on the face susceptible to ageing and sagging such as; the brows, jowls and cheeks can be lifted and tightened by the placing and stitching of sutures.

Thread Lifts also create a stimulation of collagen in the treatment areas, due to the healing response of the body.

2. Who is suitable for a Thread Lift?

Patients most suitable for a thread lift are those between the ages of 30 to 50 and who are not experiencing excessive sagging skin.

A thread lift is best suited to patients who are experiencing mild to moderate signs of loose skin.

Patients who are not suitable for surgery due to medical conditions, will be suitable for a thread lift as a local rather than general anaesthetic is used.

3. What are the benefits of a Thread Lift?

A thread lift is less invasive than a surgical face lift and is less costly.

A thread lift has minimal recovery time with most patients returning to work and activities on the same day.

Most patients will not experience any side effects with a thread lift and there are no visible scars unlike with a surgical face lift.

Thread Lifts are performed under a local anaesthetic.

Thread Lift treatment stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen, giving patients great results.

Thread lifts have been described as the missing link between facial rejuvenation treatments and the surgical face lift. Providing patients with a safe alternative.

4. How long do Thread Lifts last?

On average thread lifts last between one to three years.

5. What will happen during treatment?

At Dental & Skin we will first assess the treatment area, discuss your desired results and provide you with answers to any questions you may have.

We will then sign the consent forms and begin treatment by administering a local anaesthetic and making sure the patient is comfortable.

The whole treatment time will be between 30 to 45 minutes.

Next, tiny incisions will be made into the target area and the threads will be inserted. By inserting these threads they will attach to the skin tissue, allowing for the skin to be pulled back.

The threads will then be knotted and will be invisible inside the skin.

Due to patients being conscious during treatment, you are in control of your appearance and can approve the look.

Once treatment is completed we will invite the patient back for a review appointment.

6. What are the side effects?

Thread Lifts are a minimally invasive treatment and there is a very minimal risk of scarring and bruising.

Some patients may experience redness and soreness.

In very rare cases patients may experience infection, irritation and visibility of their sutures in the skin. If this does occur the sutures can be easily removed.

7. How much does a Thread Lift cost?

A thread lift is much less costly than a surgical facelift.

The cost of your thread lift will depend on how many sutures are needed, during your consultation our doctor will inform you of the price.

8. When will I see the results?

Patients see results immediately with thread lift treatment.

9. What types of Threads are used?

NovaThreads

NovaThreads are made from PDO, a biocompatible material that is safely absorbed in the body and lasts for around 6 months.

There are two types of NovaThreads. Barbed sutures which create lift action and smooth sutures which excel at stimulating collagen and give less of a lift.

Smooth sutures are more commonly used for the mouth and brows and barbed sutures for the jowls and cheeks.

Silhouette InstaLift

Silhouette InstaLift also uses a biocompatible material and its strength lies in lifting the skin, with results lasting from one to three years.

The sutures have small cones on them to latch onto the tissue and produce a greater, more noticeable lift.

10. Post Treatment Care

Patients should avoid rubbing their face and to cleanse and apply make-up gently for up to a week after treatment.

It will be beneficial for patients when sleeping to prop their head up so as to not roll onto the face.
